India continues its retaliatory measures against Pakistan after Operation Sindoor on May 7. It's been two days, and the India-Pakistan clash doesn't seem to end any sooner. Missile barrages, drones, and a series of attacks launched by Pakistan, along with the continuous ceasefire ever since India avenged the 22 April Pahalgam attack by hitting nine locations, 'terrorist infrastructures' in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir[1]. The midnight operation killed around 80-100 terrorists, destroying their hideouts. Here is a take on all that followed after Operation Sindoor, on May 7-8:Â
Missiles, followed by several drones, were spotted entering the Indian Airspace from the western frontiers. This has been the scenario since May 7, which continues on May 8-9. As per media sources, the Indian Defence System (S-400) successfully destroyed all of these munitions. All that's happening and has happened all this while, as per the Indian Armed Forces and the defence sources:Â

As many as eight missiles were projected by Pakistan targeting the Jammu region, which included key locations: Arnia, Jammu Airport in Satwari, Samba, and RS Pura[2].Â
The drone threat in Jaisalmer was also neutralised by the Indian Armed Forces. In a press meet, it has been revealed that as many as 36 places in India have been targeted with 300-400 Turkish drone attacks by Pakistan[3].Â

Continuous aerial activity, with activated air raid alerts, and a sudden power outage were observed in Ambala, Chandigarh, and Jammu, among other areas of Punjab, Rajasthan, and Jammu and Kashmir[4].Â
Heavy security has been deployed in Delhi. Air sirens are also being installed at high-rise buildings in the Capital[2].Â
A failed infiltration attempt by Pakistan in the Samba sector of Jammu and Kashmir along the Pakistan border. At least 7 terrorists have been killed, as reported by the Border Security Force (BSF). Â
Strict vigilance across the India-Bangladesh border- Amid tensions rising in the West, India is putting up strict vigilance across the east, at the India-Bangladesh border[2].Â
The PRO's X statement read, "The threats were swiftly neutralised using kinetic and non-kinetic capabilities, following Established Standard Operating Procedures. No casualties or material losses were reported. India remains fully prepared to defend its sovereignty and ensure the safety of its citizens."Â
The tactics used by Pakistan resemble those of terrorist organisations like Hamas, a terrorist group in Palestine. The use of 'cheap rockets launched in multiple succession', also owed to the recent meeting between Hamas and Pakistan-based Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI)[2][5].Â
Amid ongoing tensions on the border, there is a significant effect on the inside:
IPL suspended indefinitely- As border scuffle escalates further, the BCCI has suspended the 18th edition of TATA IPL for an indefinite period. The Thursday match scheduled between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals was cancelled midway, with the edition being suspended on Friday. Air raid alerts were heard in the neighbouring cities of Jammu and Pathankot. The IPL Governing Council decided after consultation with stakeholders and the concerned authorities[6].Â
Civil flight operations stopped at 24 airports- The Center has issued a list of 24 airports that will be closed amid India-Pakistan tensions, including Amritsar, Chandigarh, Ludhiana, Bathinda, Srinagar, Jaisalmer, Jammu, Pathankot, among others[7].Â

Residents evacuated- The citizens residing in areas close to the International borders are evacuated and shifted to safer places[8].Â
States and Union territories asked to invoke emergency powers- ANI reported that the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has asked the Chief Secretaries and the administrators of all States and Union territories to invoke emergency powers under civil defence rules, as a necessary precautionary measure (As per Section 11 of the Civil Defence Rules, 1968, along with necessary procurement powers to the Director, Civil Defence of State/UT).
Uncertainty of availability of fuel in border areas- People are fearing that there will be an unavailability of fuel amid a situation of war, especially in border areas. But there is no need to worry or panic until there are any guidelines from the authorities. There is no need to queue at fueling stations for petrol or diesel, or hoard LPG cylinders and other essential commodities (rice, wheat, sugar, among others). And ensure safety from any kind of black marketing in your region[2].Â
False information and rumours- As of now, there is a high chance that false information and rumours, along with manipulated photos and videos, are being circulated[9]. Also, Pakistan initiated a cyber attack against India. Information must be fact-checked, and then only believed or circulated further.Â

Firecracker shops are closed in the border areas. People are also advised not to burn any firecrackers or fly drones as a security measure[10].Â
Hours after Operation Sindoor, India's External Affairs Minister had a strong message for the world. He said, "The world must show zero tolerance for terrorism."
Phone calls and discussions with counterparts and Foreign Secretaries of other countries are already under way, be it the non-permanent members of the United Nations (UN).Â
In a post shared by Press Information Bureau (PIB), India, World Bank President Ajay Banga said, "We have no role to play beyond a facilitator. There's a lot of speculation in the media about how the World Bank will step in and fix the problem, but it is all bunk. The World Bank's role is merely as a facilitator." Talking about the Indus Water treaty, Banga added, "It's their decision and the bank has not received formal communication from either government.[11]"
We can only be hopeful that the situation does not escalate any further. But, if it does, and we are actually in the state of a 'potential war' or close to it, make sure to follow all the necessary guidelines issued by the Government of India. And, cooperate with the local authorities. It is essential to stand with the Indian Armed Forces during these sensitive times and be their support.
