आप सभी जानते ही होंगे बीते समय में कई ऐसी खबरें आईं जो दुःख से भरी हुईं रहीं. इन्ही में शामिल रही अमेरिका में अश्वेत जॉर्ज फ्लॉयड की मौत. जिसके बाद लगातार हिंसक प्रदर्शन हो रहे हैं. अब तक कई जगहों से दुकानों में लूटपाट की भी तस्वीरें सामने आ रही हैं और आगजनी और तोड़फोड़ के बाद बेकाबू हुई स्थिति के चलते वहां कई राज्यों में कर्फ्यू जैसी स्थिति बन गई है. केवल इतना ही नहीं बल्कि इस मामले को लेकर भारत में कई लोगों ने आवाज उठाई है और इन्ही में शामिल हुए हैं कई बॉलीवुड सेलेब्स. इनमे करीना कपूर खान, करण जौहर, प्रियंका चोपड़ा आदि शामिल हैं.

वहीँ इन स्टार्स ने अश्वेतों के आंदोलन को समर्थन दिया है लेकिन अब इसी बीच अभिनेता अभय देओल ने उन सेलेब्स और मिडिल क्लास के लोगों को आड़े हाथों लिया है, जो जॉर्ज फ्लॉयड की मौत पर तो अपनी आवाज बुलंद कर रहे हैं, लेकिन अपने ही देश की समस्याओं पर खामोश रहते हैं.  हाल ही में अभय देओल ने अपने इंस्टाग्राम अकाउंट से एक तस्वीर साझा की, जिसमें लिखा है - Maybe it’s time for these now? Now that “woke” indian celebrities and the middle class stand in solidarity with fighting systemic racism in America, perhaps they’d see how it manifests in their own backyard? America has exported violence to the world, they have made it a more dangerous place, it was but inevitable that it would come back karmically. I’m not saying they deserve it, I’m saying look at the picture in it’s totality.'

वहीँ अभय देओल ने आगे लिखा है, ' I’m saying support them by calling out the systemic problems in your own country, because they turn out to be one and the same thing. I’m saying follow their lead but not their actions. Create your own actions, your own movement, relevant to your own country. That is what the black lives matter movement is all about! In the larger picture, there is no “us” and “them”. There is not a country that’s real.
